1. Do I need a motorcycle license?
Yes, you need a license with a motorcycle endorsement. Unfortunately, a permit will not suffice. (No motorcycle license needed for dirt bikes)
2. Can I rent a bike for my DMV riding test?
No. Our insurance does not allow rentals for DMV riding tests.
3. Is there a minimum age?
You must be 21 years old or older at the time of rental.
4. What are your rates?
See the bike pages for details on rates. Long term rentals are available and the rates are negotiable. There are no additional taxes or fees. Insurance is required, see the insurance question below.
5. What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We can also send you a link to pay for your rental online directly from your bank account!
6. Do you require a security deposit?
We require a security deposit and it is usually done in the form of an authorization (aka a “hold”) on a credit card or debit card. Cash is also acceptable. It is $1000.
7. Do you offer insurance? What if I have my own?
We offer insurance, and in fact it is required. It is $18 the first day and $15 each day after that. It includes California state minimums of liability ($15,000/$30,000), as well as comprehensive and collision. The deductible in the event you need to make a claim is $1500. For an additional $5.95/day, you can increase the liability limits to $300,000. There are other coverages available for medical payments and personal effects. Contact us for further details. In addition, for an additional $30/day you can add our Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), which reduces your out of pocket liability to SMR for any damage to the bike to $0 in the event of any damage to the motorcycle.
8. Do you have riding gear available? What does it cost?
Yes! We have helmets (full face and half), jackets, and gloves available. One helmet is included with the rental. Additional helmets are $5/day. Jackets are $5/day and gloves are $2.50/day.
9. What kind of riding gear do you have available?
I care about your safety and all of our full face helmets have a SNELL or ECE rating at minimum. Half helmets have a DOT rating at minimum. We carry both full faced and half helmets to match your preference.
Our Jackets are Tourmaster Intake Air Series 3. They are a superb textile jacket with a textile mesh outer layer with hard armor at impact points and two internal layers that can be zipped in as desired. One is a thermal layer and one is a waterproof layer. They are perfect for California’s varied riding conditions!
Our gloves vary but are generally leather gauntlet style gloves.
10. Can you deliver the bike to me?
Yes, in some cases, depending on staff availability, we can deliver the bike to you with prior arrangement for a reasonable fee. The fee is determined on a case by case basis and will depend on the delivery location, and other factors.
11. Can you pick me up and bring me to the bike?
Yes, in some cases, depending on staff availability, we can pick you up and bring you to our shop for your rental pick up. Prior arrangement is usually required and a reasonable fee will be charged that is determined on a case by case basis depending on the pick up location and other factors. Transportation to and from the Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is available at no charge for rentals of 4 or more days. For rentals of less than 4 days, airport transportation is provided for $30 each trip ($60 total if you need both a pick up and drop off at the airport).
12. Are one way rentals available?
Yes, one way rentals are available on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee depending on the location and other factors.
13. What are your hours? Can I pick up and drop off after hours?
Our hours are 9-5, Monday through Friday, but weekend appointments are almost always available (subject to staff availability) and we can also do before and after hours pick ups and drop offs in most cases – again, subject to staff availability. We work to accommodate your schedule whenever possible no matter the day or time.
14. I see you are closed from Sundown Friday to Sundown Saturday. Can I still pick up or drop off a bike during those times?
Yes. Our business office is closed during those times. Drop offs can be arranged during those times. Pick ups can also be arranged during those times but prior payment will be required and all paperwork must be completed in advance.
15. Can I carry a passenger?
Yes! Your passenger will need to complete our release of liability forms as well.
16. I want to rent multiple bikes, do you offer any discounts?
Yes! In most cases, a multi-bike discount can be applied. Inquire at time of reservation.
17. Do you offer any law enforcement or military discounts?
Yes! 5% rental rate discount available for police, fire, and military personnel. (Discount cannot be applied to insurance charges.)
